satosugu and gojo’s digimon hyperfixation
on his first day at jujutsu tech, suguru has to suppress the urge to laugh when he sees his white-haired classmate pull out a digimon notebook. it’s the same type he would use to write in when he was six, but this lanky 15-year-old, special-grade sorcerer is purposefully showing it off with so much pride it almost hurts. suguru soon figures out gojo also has an accompanying digimon folder, pen, and pencil case.
the two — despite all their differences — grow close. only then does suguru truly see the depth of satoru’s fixation. satoru’s dorm could be mistaken for a child’s bedroom with the digimon throw blanket, the digimon posters on the wall, and multiple racks of digimon dvds. when he first sleeps over, satoru comes back from the communal bathrooms in a digimon pajamas set to match his agumon slippers (which barely fit him). satoru spends time pointing at every single figurine on his shelf and explaining exactly what each creature is capable of.
(suguru does not have the heart to tell him that none of the explanations are even remotely comprehensible. he chooses, instead, to nod along and pretend to understand the exact differences between imperialdramon’s dragon mode, fighter mode, and paladin mode.)
but suguru cannot deny the beauty in the child-like joy satoru exudes when he just has to tell him about the new episode. suguru hopes — one day — satoru can speak of him with that same fervor, too.
